Tabbing machines provide the quickest and easiest way to secure your folded mail. As a leading mailing equipment supplier, AMS understands how important it is for postal mailshots to look as appealing as possible to the recipient, overall increasing response rates. Direct mailers are now finding new ways to create effective direct mail without the need for traditional envelopes and this has increased the demand for perforated adhesive tabs, used to secure open-ended mail such as double postcards and folded booklets. We predict this need will continue in 2019.
To solve the costly requirement of adding adhesive tabs to mailings by hand, we have a range of machines that apply clear, frosted and paper tabs on to open ended mail. Our tabbing machines provide cost-saving benefits by drastically reducing turnaround times. They also ensure tabs are placed neatly and accurately, something that couldn’t be guaranteed by hand.
Our range includes 5 tabbing machines, from the popular AMS 12, which comes with an inbuilt feeder to the AMS 9900 which can tab up to 3 tabs on up to 35,000 mailing pieces per hour.
Before purchasing a tabbing machine, we have answered a few questions you may have:
How many documents can be tabbed?
Our tabbing machines allow the operator to stack their literature for automated tabbing. The tabbing speed can be adjusted to specify a motor speed. Typically the faster the motor the more documents it will be able to tab. For more information on actual duty cycles, visit the product pages.
Can I tab more than one side at a time?
Yes, the AMS 309 can simultaneously tab both the front and a side or both sides in one pass. We also have tabbers that can add up to 3 tabs on one side.
What size of paper can be tabbed?
Tabbers can be adjusted to accommodate different sizes of paper and where the tab is placed. Most product pages will let you know what sizes of paper the tabber can accommodate and exactly what adjustments can be made. Our mail tabbers are very versatile and can work with a wide range of paper. Please note, some highly glossy documents may be problematic as the slippery surface may cause paper jams. If you are concerned about your glossy paper, samples can be mailed in for testing prior to making a purchase.
Are tabbers easy to set up?
Yes, our tabbers are easy to use. Our service department can offer phone support and we also offer the option of on-site training if needed.

Adhesive tabs can be purchased perforated or non-perforated, paper or plastic. Most people who mail literature prefer the perforated tabs because it is easier for the recipient to open the mail. Our tabbers with both.

They do not. Most mail tabbers require that the literature be folded prior to being tabbed. This is most commonly done by means of a paper folder.
